English Rule: Adjective Placement in sentence

Adjective are the integral part of the sentence which is used extensively by the every English-speaking person. Adjectives are usually placed before nouns. Sometime linking verb like to be or “sense” verb are placed before adjective.

Adjective before noun:

Example: John has taken a huge loan from the bank.

Adjective after to be verb:

Example: She is tall.

“Sense” verbs such as look, seem, appear, taste, sound, feel, or smell, also demand a verb + adjective word order:

Example: He felt a cold by staying in pool.

When Verbs Become Adjectives: Participles

One more consideration is verb sometime can act as adjective, if they are in their participle form. Turning verb into -ing (present participle), -ed or -en (past participle) are used to modify nouns (which are basically Adjectives)

Example:

The biometer is used for sensing signals.

My washing machine is broken.
